My first month at Live Fit

Happy Wednesday and welcome to my first post on fitness! I was thinking that since it’s been exactly one month that I signed up for Live Fit fitness studio, it is time to write a post about my experience. I could also write a publication each month about my progress and share some tips that have helped/inspired me and that could also inspire you.

The first thing I want to talk about is how I made the decision to seek professional help. As you know, I am almost 30 pounds overweight. If you knew me personally, the first thing you’d say to me is: You are crazy, you’re not overweight at all.

Starting from the basis that each person is a world, just because I don’t have the physical appearance of 300 lbs., it doesn’t mean that I don’t feel obese. I have always weighed approximately 120 lbs. (55 Kg). Thus, with 30 lbs. more than my ‘actual weight, it is normal to say that I feel fat.

However, I have never been a sedentary person. In fact, every morning I walk about 1 hour with my dogs. Even so, I have not seen any physical improvement and that’s what made me look for a professional to help me. It is frustrating to exercise daily and when you get on the scale or put on those jeans that you love, there is no difference. It’s really frustrating!

Motivation: If I’m honest, the first classes were very hard for me, especially the post-workout muscle pain, but once I get out of bed and start training, I feel so good! Every day I feel that I have better resistance. This is starting to make me feel incredible!

Training: I usually do two training sessions a week in 1-on-1 classes. My trainer is very professional and has a lot of patience with me. That is very important when it comes to training, feeling comfortable with the person who is helping you and from the first day we have clicked. The days I don’t have training, I ride a bike or do some cardio. This week I have incorporated spinning classes. These classes give me a brutal energy.

Goals: I am going to be honest and realistic. Who would not like to lose 20 pounds in a month? The reality is that miracles don’t exist. That’s why it’s very important to set goals that you can meet. For example, when I first started, I only went to classes twice a week and the rest of the days I jogged around the neighborhood. I currently continue with the classes, but I have incorporated spinning classes into my training and next month I will incorporate kick-boxing or Pilates.

Results: I have to admit that at first, I did not see results. In fact, I still feel my body very inflamed, but my teacher told me that it takes approximately 6 months. It’s a matter of resistance, not speed. The most difficult step is to start, once you are here, you just need to be patient.

This is all I have today. Next month, I will continue discussing my progress and I hope that you will see an inspiration in me and you will also join a fitness studio. It’s late, I need to go to spinning class…
