For a long time now, every year I’ve spent the holidays with my family in Cuba. It is by now a tradition. I usually leave a couple of days before Christmas, arriving just in time for my aunt’s birthday. It is the first, of many, great family events that is done over this period.
My cousin and her daughter who live in Spain also fly to Cuba during this time. She always arrives a week before me. Last year we could not see each other over the holidays because I flew to Chicago to spend Christmas and my cousin was recently separated and didn’t want to travel anywhere.
A few weeks ago, I called my mother and told her that, like last year, I would not spend Christmas with them this year. She immediately understood. I have a great relationship with my parents, but still I felt bad. It’s my first year living in Miami and I want to take the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy a bit with my partner on these dates.
These days I want to take the opportunity to disconnect from work, as a businesswoman I have to devote to things twice as long. Working for yourself has its pros and cons, but I am extremely happy to dedicate myself to what I like.
I really don’t have a lot of plans for these coming days. I want to continue exploring the city and attend some events. This month, Miami has a series of events, that if you are visiting, you should check out in my publication from last week. I leave the link here. Possibly my holiday plans don’t sound very exciting, but my body and mind is asking me for a few days of inactivity. I’d like to catch up with some series on Netflix or some nice Christmas movie. Do you recommend any?
What are your holiday plans?
